Verify that the door can be opened from the inside when both
locked and unlocked on the outside. Verify strength of door
locking device; the door shall not open by itself during any
testing specified herein. Verify handle and latch do not extend
beyond the corner fittings.
4.3.7 Interior light inspection. Verify the presence of a
vapor proof lighting fixture with a vapor proof switch, having a
protective cover which can be removed without tools. Verify the
switch is located near door on the exterior and that the switch
operates the 100-watt, 120-volt incandescent light bulb when the
container is connected to a 120-volt power source. Verify the
switch is recessed or otherwise protected from damage.
4.3.8 Pilot light inspection. Verify the presence of a pilot
light enclosed in a vapor proof housing on the exterior near the
door. Verify that the light illuminates red when the interior
light switch is in the "on " position with 120-volt power source
connected to the container. Verify the pilot light is recessed
or otherwise protected from damage.
4.3.9 Plug and receptacle inspection. Visually inspect the
container for a plug and receptacle located on the exterior in
the rear. Verify the receptacle is designed for 3-wire, 2-pole
grounded service and is rated at 15 amperes, 125 volts by
connecting to a 125-volt power source and operating the light.
Verify the receptacle is of the recessed, male, locking type.
Verify that a captive plug is provided to seal the receptacle
when not in use. Verify the plug is captive to the shelter to
prevent loss.
4.3.10 Temperature indicator. Verify the presence of a
Temperature indicator located on the front exterior near the
door. Visually inspect to verify temperature range of -250F to
+1250F for proper operation and verify thermometer gauge and
sensing element are protected by a guard or other device.
Interface and interoperability requirements verification.
4.4
4.4.1 Dimensions inspection. Verify that dimensions,
tolerances and diagonal differences of the container meet the
requirements specified in ISO 668 for type 1D containers , except
the minimum interior dimensions shall be 86 inches wide, 88
inches long and 83 inches in height.
