4.3.3 Safety.

4.3.3.1 Container certification. A Convention for Safe
Containers (CSC) plate shall be applied for and obtained from a
designated approval authority, attached and displayed as required
by the convention in accordance with CFR 49, parts 450 and 451.
4.3.3.2 Wiring certification. Wiring practices used in the
containers shall be certified as conforming to NFPA Standard No.
70 by submission of the manufacturer's certification, a certified
test report or appropriate labels or listing marks.
4.3.3.3 Shelving certification. The shelves supplied with
the containers shall be certified as conforming to NSF Standard
No. 2 by submission of the manufacturer's certification or by
inspection.
4.3.4 Drainage inspection. Visually inspect the container
for drains. Verify watertightness with drains in the closed
position by completely filling the floor with water to a depth of
not less than 1 inch. Duration of the test shall not be less
than 8 hours. Upon completion of test there shall be no evidence
of water leakage. Verify drainage by opening the drains after
test; there shall be no presence of water puddles after draining.
Verify automatic release by inducing an internal pressure above
normal operating pressure inside the container until the drains
automatically release. Verify that drains are provided with
manual closure.
4.3.5 Door inspection. Visually inspect door area to verify
that the door is flush with the container exterior when closed.
Verify presence of a means to prevent door hardware from damaging
container exterior skin when opened. Verify hardware does not
extend beyond the corner fittings. Verify the door opens outward
from the right, and has a means to hold the door in an open
position. Measure door opening to verify a minimum of 74 inches
in height and 36 inches in width.
4.3.6 Door handle and latch inspection. Visually inspect for
the presence of an external door handle and latch which accepts
the padlock of 4.4.3. Verify that the closed door cannot be
opened externally with the latch closed and the lock in place.
