2.1.5 Valves. The front of the icemaker-dispenser shall be equipped with one ice-dispensing valve and one water-dispensing valve. A removable drain pan with a perforated tray shall be provided under the dispensing valves. The drain pan shall be removable without any special tools and shall have a drain hole capable of being left open or closed.
2.2 Storage bin. The storage bin shall be an integral part of the icemaker-dispenser. The storage bin shall be fabricated of 24 gauge (minimum) stainless steel or plastic. The capacity of the storage bin for the size 1 icemaker-dispenser shall be either 95, 45, or 25 pounds (minimum) as specified (see 5.2). The capacity of the storage bin for the size 2 icemaker-dispenser shall be either 30 or 8 pounds (minimum) as specified (see 5.2). The ice storage bin shall have a drainage opening. An automatic ice level control shall be installed in the storage bin to shut off the ice maker when the storage bin is full.
2.2.1 Insulation. Any blown-in insulation used during manufacturing shall be non-ozone depleting substances for propelling insulation. Loose fill type insulation shall not be used.
2.3 Refrigeration unit. The refrigeration unit shall be an integral part of the complete icemaker-dispenser. The assembled refrigeration unit shall be completely self-contained, completely wired, and completely dehydrated and charged with the proper amount and type of refrigerant and oil necessary for operation. The refrigerating system shall be fitted with a means of recovering and adding refrigerant to the system. The compressor and compressor motor shall be of the type and size to obtain the capabilities listed in Table I. Compressor motors, up to and including 3/4 hp, shall operate on a nominal 115 V, single-phase, 60 Hz electrical system. Compressor motors over 3/4 hp shall operate on a 208/230 V, single phase, 60 Hz, electrical system. Motors shall be protected against damage from overloads and voltage fluctuations when starting or running by means of a thermal overload protector. When 50 Hz frequency is specified, the motor shall be specifically designed for operation on that frequency (see 5.2).
2.3.1 Refrigerant. The refrigeration system shall be charged with a commercially available, non-ozone depleting refrigerant. The oil used in the compressor shall be suitable for use with the refrigerant.
2.3.2 Ozone depleting substance. Class I ozone depleting substances, in accordance with section 602(a) of the Clean Air Act Amendments 1990, 42 USC 7671a(a) as implemented by 40 CFR 82, Protection of Stratospheric Ozone, shall not be used for refrigerant gases, or for any other purpose, or employed in any process associated with the manufacture of any component parts for this item. See the 5.6 for additional information.
2.4 Standard compliance. The icemaker-dispenser shall comply with Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institution (ARI) Standard No. 810, American Society for Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Laboratories (UL) Standard No.29, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standard No.563. and NSF International Standard No.12, as applicable (see 3.2).
