2.4 Order of precedence . In the event of a conflict between the
text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of
this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however,
supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific
exemption has been obtained.
3.
REQUIREMENTS
3.1 First article . When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be
subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.1.1.
3.2 Operating requirements . Refrigeration units shall satisfy
the following functional, operational and performance requirements.
3.2.1 4-hour operation . Refrigeration units shall operate
properly with suction and discharge pressures safely controlled.
72-hour operation . Refrigeration units shall operate

properly and maintain noted conditions at thermostat settings of
00F and 35 0F.
3.2.3 Refrigeration capacity . Refrigeration units shall have
minimum net capacities of 5,000 Btu/hr at a thermostat setting of
00F and 7,500 Btu/hr at a thermostat setting of 35
0
F.
3.2.4 Defrost system . Refrigeration units shall have a defrost
cycle terminated by temperature, automatically initiated by a time
control adjustable between 6 and 24 hours and have the capacity to
produce not less than 6 pounds of condensate within 30 minutes.
3.2.5 Moisture content . The moisture content of the
refrigeration system shall be kept at a minimum to maintain proper
operation of the refrigeration unit.

Refrigerant leakage .
Refrigerant containing components
shall be gastight.
