2.3 Type I ice making machine. The type I ice making machine shall be provided with an air cooled condenser.
2.4 Type II ice making machine. The type II ice making machine shall be provided with a water cooled condenser.
2.5 Grade A ice making machine. The exterior of the grade A ice making machine shall be fabricated of low carbon steel sheet conforming to ASTM A 366 or from 300 series stainless steel conforming to ASTM A 167 or 400 series stainless steel conforming to ASTM A 176 with a minimum thickness of 22 gauge (0.0299 inch). The exterior of the ice making machine fabricated of the grade A low carbon steel shall have the manufacturer’s standard commercial finish, provided it conforms to NSF Standard No. 12.
2.6 Grade B ice making machine. The exterior of the grade B ice making machine shall be fabricated of 300 series stainless steel conforming to ASTM A 167 with a minimum thickness of 20 gauge (0.035 inch).
2.7 Refrigeration unit. The refrigeration unit shall be an integral part of the complete ice making machine. The refrigeration unit shall be completely self-contained, pre-charged, and wired. The compressor and compressor motor shall be of the type and size to obtain the capacities listed in table II.
2.7.1 Refrigerant. The system refrigerant shall be provided by the manufacturer and shall be that which is acceptable to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at the time of manufacture. The compressor lubrication oil shall be compatible with the refrigerant used. The system shall be labeled or refrigerant and lubricant oil as provided.
