Standards compliance. The mortuary refrigerator shall comply with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Standard No. 471.
Marking. The unit shall be legibly marked with the manufacturer’s name or trademark and model or part number plus the contract number and National Stock Number.
Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Packaging.
A. Commercial packaging. Each mortuary refrigerator shall be packaged in accordance with commercial practice.
B. Commercial packing. Each mortuary refrigerator shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination at the lowest transportation rate for such supplies. Containers shall comply with the Uniform Freight Classification or National Motor Freight Classification, as applicable.
C. Export packaging. Each mortuary refrigerator shall be disassembled to the extent determined by the supplier to protect parts susceptible to damage during shipment and storage and for reduction cubage. Components of the refrigerator shall be cleaned, preserved and cushioned to afford protect in against corrosion, deterioration, and physical damage during shipment and storage. Hardware and tools shall be packaged in a class weather-resistant fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B-636. The box shall be closed in accordance with Method IV as specified in the appendix of PPP-B-636. The technical manual shall be placed in a paper envelope of plastic bag.
